Lainston House Hotel

One of the few hotels in the UK to employ their own bakers, Lainston Country House Hotel holds many secrets from its exclusive location in the village of Sparsholt, just outside Winchester.

Lainston’s bakery produces pastries and rolls for breakfast, bread for sandwiches in the bar and drawing room, four varieties of bread for dinner and lunch, using herbs from the herb garden, teacakes and scones for tea, plus rolls and other breads for functions.

Starting out with just a basic oven, the operation has mushroomed into being the main provider of pastries and bread for the entire hotel, as well as being a long-time producer many Hampshire Farmers Markets.

At the markets, Lainston bring a wide selection of freshly baked bread, pastries and baked products, including everyone’s long-time favourite, the Lardy Cake.

Executive Chef Andy McKenzie is passionate about reducing food miles, using local producers and ensuring the path from ‘farmers gate to dinner plate’ is as smooth and local as possible.
